Sociedad Colombiana De Ingenieros Tarifas Honorarios

In Spanish, the word 'tariff' is often used to refer to a rate or fee that an individual or company has to pay for services rendered. In physics, the word ‘thermodynamic’ refers to a physical quantity that describes how different types of systems interact with each other. But what about a society of engineers who charge by the hour? Sociedad Colombiana De Ingenieros Tarifas Honorarios is a Colombian engineering society which charges its members their services in hourly increments. This means that if you want your building design or engineering project completed by them they'll charge you according to their rates and hours worked for this project so long as it's within the established guidelines established by their governing charter. The society was founded on May 11, 1914 by a group of engineers who desired to protect the profession from the aggressive marketing tactics of other engineering societies. Originally it was formed as a professional association open only to those who had been members of another Colombian engineering society, but after three years it changed its name and began accepting non-professionals as well. In 1932, it had an average membership of 250 and by 1984, this number had increased to more than 4000 members. Today there are over 6000 registered members. The society has been described as the “liberal section of Colombia’s engineers”. The governing board of the society is made up of a president, vice-president and six directors who set and enforce the rules. The president and vice-president are elected by the members whereas the directors are appointed by their respective regional branches – Bogota, Tunja, Medellin and Pereira. Members must pay an entrance fee which must be renewed every year. The amount of this fee is pro-rated between fellows (who pay up to $80), ordinary members (who pay between $80 and $130) and associate members (who pay between $130 and $160). Any member who commits grave disciplinary misconduct in his line of work is expelled from the society. The professional practice in Colombia requires that architects and engineers be registered with the state in order to charge for their services. Anyone can become a registered architect or engineer in Colombia if they meet certain standards of education and training, but Sociedad Colombiana De Ingenieros Tarifas Honorarios doesn’t require any sort of registration or certification for its members. Depending on the portfolio of work that each engineer creates, he or she is rated accordingly with a numeric scale based on his or her experience, skill and ability to complete projects. Members are expected to comply with strict ethical standards in order to protect their clients, take responsibility for their mistakes and be honest about the work they do. According to the organization's website, the society recognizes six different types of memberships. All members are required to pay an entrance fee which is pro-rated between fellows (who pay up to $80), ordinary members (who pay between $80 and $130) and associate members (who pay between $130 and $160). Any member who commits grave disciplinary misconduct in his line of work is expelled from the society. eccc085e13
